I really enjoy this piece by Mark Mawson. Here he mixes paint into water and photographs the mixing process. I really enjoy color contrast between the foreground, background, and between each color. I also think that the use of vibrant colors enhances the visual aesthetic of the mixing process.

First place. To me this is the most visually stunning entry. I originally thought this was smoke until you noted that the photographer mixes paint with water, then I realized the image is upside down- a very unique perspective.

1st place – I really appreciate the contrast the shadows bring to this image. Also I appreciate how the saturation increases the intensity of the dyes used.

Third Place. Very artist by inverting the picture, makes the viewer think about the image. The blending of colors add dimension making the image more appealing.

First Place. I love the colors and the flow of this. I love that the movement is reminiscent of smoke and thus plays with the eyes.

First Place. The vibrant colors with the right light really pop out and make it appealing to look at, also the inversion and diffusing of the paint in water is perfectly captured.

First place. I love the vibrant colors, I love the puffiness of the smoke (almost looks like a colorful cloud!) and I love how the colors are mixing together a bit with one another.

Second place. I especially appreciate how the image captures the “smokey effect” by using strategic lighting the make the flow seem isolated and flipping the image to simulate upward flow, like smoke in air.

First Place. This photo has a wide range of vibrant colors. Perfect lighting as well. This definitely captures the physics of fluid flow as a piece of art.
