I love the abstract nature of the photograph, and the choice of black and white for the photo. The lighting of the photo and how it reflects on the water adds to the crystal clear reflections of the water.

I really like the black and white contrast in the image but it does seem to suppress some of what is going on in the photo. The light reflections are great and the focus is on point making for an excellent photograph.

I like the use of contrast and the black and white style you chose. It highlights many details in the flow

The bubbles filled with white are very interesting. The light reflections are a little distracting; perhaps use something to diffuse the light. I like the clarity of the water and the contrast between the dark and light aspects of the image.

Cool focus and imaging of the vapor without any blur. What causes the vignette on the lower left corner? Applying a vignette to all corners may help relieve the distraction and focus on the center.

very interesting photo. I like the black and white feel of this photo. Great use of shutter speed to capture this photo.

Fascinating smoke trails. Black and white really helps bring out the contrast in this image. Well done with the camera settings to get this image so crisp. Possibly fade the edges a little less in future images, the fade is a little distracting in this image.

Nice composition, I like how the window of the surface of the water is framed by the fog. The flow is very nicely shown by the bubbles and the fog at the top. Effective use of black & white, nice lighting.

I like that this image captures regions that include both the condensing water vapor and the upwelling of the water. There is enough contrast in the shades of this photo to make the B&W filtering work. An interesting accompanying photo may be to take a broader shot and capture the turbulent mixing in the water vapor.

Great job capturing the bubbles and fog with clarity. Visually and artistically, it looks like there are varying textures between the smooth bubbles and the soft fog. I like your choice of making the image black and white.

    1. The varying textures of the image is very pleasing.
    2. The flow is understandable and clearly illustrated.
    3. The technique is excellent with full contrast range and excellent exposure (highlights and shadows).

Art: The art is great and visually appealing. I believe that adding a bit of color might’ve made the image even more aesthetically pleasing, but that’s just a personal opinion.

Flow: It was interesting to see how the dry ice sublimated off the water. The image illustrates the fluid phenomena very well.

Photographic technique: The technique used is almost perfect. I do not see anything that could be changed since the image was able to capture a wide range of colors.

Art: Easy to see multiple different textures (Vapor, Bubbles, etc.) Flow: Details are visible. Physics revealed. Photographic Technique: Good focus on the bubbles.

The photo is beautiful. It is just aesthetically pleasing to me. The flow seems so random but purposeful. The lighting highlights the process of sublimation seeing how CO2 interacts with the warm water.

I think the black and white contrast is cool, however after seeing the original image I would recommend bringing some of the colors back into the image. Very cool image!

I like how the vapor was cleared by blowing on it to make the image feel like it has 3 layers. The image could benefit from a lighting source that doesn’t reflect as directly to the camera from the water.

    – Great use of camera techniques to allow light to expose the details in this image.
    – Interesting contrast between the white and translucent areas, this shows a great contrast range.
    – The physics is apparent and details are visible, it looks like marshmallows.

Art: Beautiful to capture a still frame of this otherwise highly dynamic reaction.
Flow: Cool method to produce clouds by vaporizing CO2 under water.
Photo: Good use of black and white filter, creates a nice contrast range.

Interesting physics. Focus is good and I like the framing. A lot of information to take in. You can see the motion even in the still photo.

    A. Editing the image into black and white enhances the image
    B. Great work showing the physics in a clearly illustrated way
    C. Good work using correct shutter speeds to illuminate the photo

I personally liked the original image with color. I feel like this image may have been better if it had focused on the smoke as opposed to the water surface. The fog being out of focus kind of decreases contrast between the fog and the surface below.

Art: The color contrast between the water and fog is dramatic. With this image being in black and white I can’t speak to the colors but it does have depth with shadows.
Flow: The flow is not quickly understandable and easily recognized.
Photographic technique: The focus on the water is very well done.

Art: I really enjoy how dramatic the reaction looks.
Flow: I love the mix of gas, liquid, and solid. It is the best mix off all states I’ve seen so far.
Photography: If there could be less steam in future images that would be great but I understand that is difficult to do.

This must have been a challenging effect to capture. The sublimation is crisp and in focus. I wonder if cropping the edges in a little bit and increasing contrast would show the bubble visuals a little more.

Unique idea that uses chemistry to produce art. The flow is difficult to see, but the chemical reaction of the dry ice and water creates rough water in the center of the image. The reaction also creates the smoke. I like how the focus of the image is in the center where the dry ice was blown away.

Black and white shows the intent of artistic effect, however I think that the lack of color actually obscures some of what is happening. It is hard to tell the bubbles under the surface from the vapor rising from the surface of the water. Lighting is good, and the high shutter speed captures the image well. Consider using softer lighting next time, a lot of your lights are reflected in the water surface.
