A worthington jet from a water droplet hitting a pool below.
Very appealing to the eye. Looks like the Mount Crumpit from the Grinch!
The image is rather bright, but has great focus on the ripples.
Nice clarity. Do you think you would have had more control of it with a dropper? Cool representation of flow. I like the depth of field, it’s nice. What was your ISO? I’m in the back of the classroom, so it looks a little grainy to me, but that could just be my eyesight.
1. The ripple rings are well composed within the image.
2. The flow phenomena is well illustrated.
3. The photographic technique is excellent and the cool colors detailing the phenomena “make” the image.
I like how inviting the image is. This has a lot to do with the light blues working together and the focus on the water. It is easy to understand the flow and the Worthington jet is a cool project.
I love the focus on the flow in this image, you did a great job keeping the characteristics visible and simple. It could use a little bit of color variation for aesthetic purposes
I like the calm blue color of the photo and the shadows that the ripples cause. The focus appears it could be moved in slightly to catch the jet. Also the jet may be shooting sideways if it bounced off a ripple so the jet came out normal to the water.
Great image! Good job getting the crisp focus on the Worthington Jet. I especially like the curve of the jet. It’s a fairly irregular take on a common artistic flow visualization. The light blue sets a soothing mood, but I would recommend playing with the contrast a little more to make the jet really pop out.
Beautiful picture, I like the light blue hue of this photo. I am interested as to why the jet is at an angle. Overall great photo!
Art: A beautiful, pure, and distraction-free image of a water droplet.
Flow: Looks like a water droplet being splashed from the surface.
Photography: Impressive techniques. Could’ve tilted the lens a little bit towards the water surface to emphasize the droplet itself.
Art: The soft blue tone makes for a calming effect.
Flow: A classic flow picture!
Photography: More lighting could’ve helped capture the flow even better.
Great timing in capturing this photo. It would be interesting to experiment a little and develop some possible explanations for why the jet is leaned like that. Lateral motion of the drop could be one possibility. If the drip formed fairly close to the plate (i.e. the sponge was not very high up) maybe the drip was not particularly symmetric before impact. You could figure that out by trying to photograph the drips right before they hit the surface of the water with the sponge at different heights. The best experiments are the ones where you discover a behavior you were not expecting.
Artistically, this is really cool. The Jet is also tilted which is an interesting effect. The image is clear and focused on the jet which is nice.
1. It is a bit hard to see the Jet because of the uniform background
2. The light reflection is a bit distracting
4. I like the Jet !! looks cool
The color in this picture is very nice. Nice aesthetic, the only issue is that maybe the tip of the jet is out of focus. Looks good!
I really like the simplicity of the image. There are no vibrant colors, which just highlight the flow of the water. The droplet splash seems well timed. Possibly focus more on the jet because it is a bit hard to see.
Super crisp photo. The framing is really wide. I think that works in this photo because of the rings from a previous drop. Interesting photo. Conveys motion. Maybe if there was a way to have some more contrast it would add some focus to the center of the photo.
Art: The color contrast between the background and the water jet could be a bit more dramatic.
Flow: The flow is quickly understandable and recognized.
Photographic technique: The focus on the water jet is great.
The lighting of the image is too strong for us to see the water clearly. However, the worthington jet is slightly tilted and gives the image uniqueness. Difficult to produce.
– I like the panoramic framing of the photo, unique.
– Unique curved version of this type of flow.,
– Maybe use a fluid with higher contrast form your container.
Art: Good timing on the capture of the image. Flow: Details of the flow are visible. Photographic Technique: Would be interesting to see different angles.
– Cool light blue color.
– Flow can be reproduced similarly to other worthington jet, the lighting effect provides a interesting reflection along the waves.
– A very simple effect, would be cool to see it done with milk/dye etc.
Well done with the high speed focus, the jet is quite clear. Also well done with the selective focus on the jet with the image fuzzier elsewhere. In the future possibly try and just have the image be the pool of water without the bowl.
-The wide field of view looks cool
-Awesome shot of the physical phenomena
-Nice focus on ripples
Art: The florescent lighting makes a nice effect
Flow: the Worthington jet is a great effect to capture
Photography: outdoor lighting might have been easier to see. Great work
The blue of the water is very soft and appealing. The light reflections are a little distracting. The image captures the peak of the jet and I think that is very cool.
