In a petri dish we mixed india ink on the outside of ferrofluid and then we dropped some ink over the fluid. In this instance we placed 3 magnets underneath the petri dish so the magnetic field is experienced through the ferrofluid and clearly depicted.
The process was the same but in this case we mixed more dies together and used 4 magnets beneath the petri dish.
Finally, this trial only had one magnet beneath it.

I like the last image and how you can see the different colors starting to blend together. In the first image, I like how the yellow ink provides a highlighted separation between the black spikes.

I like the hexagonal shapes in the first image. Would you happen to know if this is because of the increased magnetic field strength?

Stunning use of magnetism to show the interaction with ferrofluid. The hexagonal packing effect with the india ink in the first image is quite beautiful.
