Clouds Second – Zachary Marshall

Clouds Second – Zachary Marshall

This was a photo taken on March 9, 2018 in Golden, Colorado. Just north of highway 6, over looking Denver. These are cumulus clouds hanging out over the city, while in the opposite direction a storm front was coming in over the mountains.

If you want to know more about the location or type of clouds, here is a report attached.

Amazing scale, the foreground makes the clouds seem huge

Sweet! I climbed that exact spot last weekend! I think the climbers are the feature of this image; if you cropped it so the cliffs and Denver barely framed the image, you could still see climbers, but the focus would be on the clouds instead.

Very nice image. The rocks really give a good sense of scale and put the vast sky in nice perspective.

I like the way the rocks border the sky. I’m more focused on the people than I am on the clouds though.

I like the framing of this photo, the people aren’t really distracting like I first expected them to be.

Great view and clarity. Like how the environment goes with the cloud in the background.

Nice framing and mix of weather. I’m a little bit distracted by the diagonal horizon.

Good image, I like the colors and the contrast between the rocks and the sky, though the people in the foreground are a bit distracting, but I’m not sure how you could effectively remove them without ruining the image.

Great job framing the clouds by including the canyon wall and horizon, it draws the eyes up towards the clouds.

Really cool image, I like how the rocks are a different texture than the clouds.

The saturated colors look nice. I like the contrast with the rocks and the clouds and sky. The horizon looks tilted, but it seems like that was intentional.

Nice composition, the photo is a little crooked so maybe straighten it out a bit so the horizon is horizontal. I feel as though the rocks on the left are a little overpowering when the focus is on the clouds, maybe crop a bit more on the left?

Nice clouds, it looks like toy story. I like the perspective of the rocks too. I might crop the horizon to be flat, but it looks good overall.

Great framing. You should see what this image looks like if you straighten the horizon line.

I really like the difference in texture between the rocks and the clouds. This also gives a nice scale. Beautiful blue sky!
