This image captures the effect of repelling magnets (underneath container) and water-based acrylic paint on the normal field instability in a Ferrofluid. The paint forms an interesting ring along the center of each “leaf” and a reservoir in the center. The formation of “cells” of paint is just a result of the hydrophobic nature of the Ferrofluid. The peaks leaning away is a result of the repelling magnets.

    I love this image so much. The colors are so bright and beautiful and the formation of the ferrofluid is so aesthetically pleasing. Wonderful job!

    Great job with post-processing! The image is well balanced and really pops with the use of blue and orange. Also, great job capturing the effects of a magnetic field in this experiment.

    Great color contrast and cell definition. What editing did you apply to the image? What do you think happened to the blue glow in the bottom right hand corner?
