This image was taken on 9/13/2025 at 4:24 pm MT in Lafayette, CO. I was facing North-East while walking along the Coal Creek trail. The clouds shown appear to be altostratus clouds that diffuse over the sky, and lower in altitude, patchy stratocumulus clouds. The atmosphere appears to be stable, which is also shown by the Skew-T diagram.

I really like the tone in your image and the crop that you used! I think including the ground, houses, and telephone poles helps to really show the size of the clouds
I really like the context of the ground and lightposts, etc. I think keeping the crop how you did it is very valuable and I wish more photos from Clouds First had ground context. Awesome clouds too, and the wispyness can be felt through the screen
Cool picture Isaac! I like how your picture captures multiple layers of clouds, especially in the left side of the picture. Did you sharpen the image at all during post processing? There’s a lot of detail in the altostratus clouds, but I was wondering if you enhanced those details at all during post processing.
I like the expanse of the image you included, I think it shows the scale of the pattern across the sky relative to the landscape.
