
This was taken using a Schlieren setup. We used a 3d printed airfoil held by a fork and used a lighter to get the density change in air to show up in our photo. The natural buoyancy of the hot air from the lighter created the fluid flow over the airfoil. This photo was also taken upside down.

Very cool image! I like how the distinct shades of color show the boundary layer development on the left side of the foil.
Nice image Domenic! I think your idea of looking at the boundary layer is a good one. I wonder if the boundary layer dimensions in the image will match any theoretical calculations that you do.
