This image shows glycol fog flowing over a 3D-printed jet model inside our homemade wind tunnel. To visualize the airflow, a green dual-planar laser sheet was aligned through the test section, illuminating the leading-edge vortices as they formed along the sharp forebody. The fog traces out tight spiral structures that peel off the nose of the jet and mix into a turbulent wake downstream. This frame was captured on a Canon EOS 2000D, using a still image instead of slow-motion video to freeze the detailed vortex patterns in the laser sheet.
