Cold water dancing on a hot skillet. This image shows the physical reaction between cold water when dropped onto a hot skillet. This demonstrates the well known Leidenfrost effect where the first layer of water is instantly vaporized, insulating the rest of the droplet from the hot skillet.

I think the mixing of hot oil and water is a great idea and I am jealous I did not think of it. I am impressed by the focus you got on the droplets and think the composition of the photo demonstrates the flow of the droplets sizzling. I am curious if you got any photos with the edge of the pan framing the shot because I think seeing the pan in the shot would add some context which might be cool.
