Oobleck Stir

Oobleck Stir

This experiment was filmed using a DSLR Canon Rebel t3i camera. The video was captured at 29.97 fps and illustrates the effects of stirring a non-Newtonian fluid: Oobleck. Red, yellow and green dye was used to create boundary layers showing streamlines of motion on the top surface of the fluid. Post-processing included slowing the video speed to half-speed and increasing the saturation of the yellows to create a more vivid color scheme.
