Altostratus Cloud Layer over West Boulder

Altostratus Cloud Layer over West Boulder

This photo was taken in the University Hill area, west of the CU Boulder main campus (1339 Broadway, Boulder, CO 80302; 40.0°N, –105.28°W), facing the northwest.
The cloud deck visible in the image is an altostratus-type cloud covering nearly the entire sky, characterized by its smooth and uniform underside. Based on its layered structure and the skew-T figure, the atmosphere at the time was stable.
