    Great job thinking on your feet and putting alcohol through highlighters to get a fluorescent dye, then capturing it in a “flavor blaster” syringe. Also, great job capturing your own take of this project. When the laminar flow experienced shear forces, it starts to look like the Kelvin-Helmholtz cloud waves we saw in the last project. Great job manipulating the image in Photoshop too, I think it really dramatizes the images.

    This image is really cool. The color was well chosen and I really like the textures and shapes the dye makes as it transitions to turbulent. It reminds me of the thermal plume off an incense stick. Have you tried flipping the image 180 degrees? I think I’d prefer that orientation.

    I love the color, it really pops. The flow is so interesting to see, it reminds me of a ghost snake or something. I like that the image is a little grainy, to be honest.

    I really enjoy the artistic approach of changing the hue to have the flow appear pink. I also enjoy that you were able to create this instability. Great work!

    The deep contrast between the illuminated ink and the infinite black background is what really makes this image work well in illustrating the KH effect. The resolution does limit the image a little bit but does not detract from the effect overall too much. This is hard to help if you simply lack the needed equipment.

    Nice simplicity of the photograph. I like the coloring, the dark background, Interesting progression from right to left as the flow gets more turbulent.

    Very cool minimalist image. I really appreciate the neon purple color. I wish the focus was a little better, understandably it is very difficult to achieve.

    Simple photo, photo is a little grainy but that’s understandable with the light. The flow is really cool, does remind me of cloud phenomena you mentioned.

    Like how the only color visible is the dye, it takes away distracting features. Interesting pattern formed. It’s cool that you can see through the middle section.

    The phenomenon of the fluorescein curling is very cool. There is nothing else in the image and it gives the viewer a need to think about what he/she is looking at.

    Very cool to see the flow break up in turbulence. I like the pink/purple tint of the highlighter and the flow is interesting.

    This photo is cool with the dark background. On the projector it looks almost like a purple background still, so setting it to black may provide more contrast to the fluorescence. The nature of the flow is also very interesting to show the laminar, transition, and turbulent phases.

    Art: Really great color
    Flow: Really interesting flow that is clearly illustrated. No distracting elements to take away from the focus of the flow
    Technique: Image is slightly blurry but I imagine this would be very difficult to get a fully in focus image

    Please set up your post to show the high resolution image. You did a great job showing a great phenomenon, with a nicely isolated setup. I think your black background could be a bit blacker with some more post processing though.

    Great contrast! The flow is displayed very well, but is slightly out of focus. The image has a very calm feeling. Fascinating photo!

    I really like how you can see the flow change from laminar to turbulent. I like the pink color of the stream and the curvature on the turbulent waves.

    Art: The color contrast between the background and the fluid could be a bit more dramatic, but the use of a single vibrant color is great.
    Flow: The flow is quickly understandable and recognized.
    Photographic technique: The focus on the fluid is very well done.

    I really like the purple color of the stream. Very cool to visualize the disruptions in flow while it is traveling through the water.

    – Interesting photo, it looks like flame progression rather than a dye, but has a nice feel to it.
    – There is no distracting elements, but looks like it could have some higher resolution.

    Cool to see the laminar flow break up into turbulence. The bright purple color contrasts nicely with the background. ISO looks like it might be a little high, some graininess present.

    I like how you can visualize the flow from a laminar to turbulent region. really cool loops that are captured at the end of the flow.
