Nice aesthetic I enjoy the colors, could get a better focus

Art: The flame across the dark background makes the fire appear so much stronger.
Flow: At first I had trouble seeing the direction of flow. Now I can see the torch is out of frame to the left with the aerosol blowing the rest of the flame out.
Technique: I am not too sure about the focus. It is neat to see the blur to examine the motion of the flame.

Art : it is dramatic with dark background
Flow : it seems like random direction of flow as normal flame does
Tech : it would be better if the picture is focused better

I liked how there are no distracting elements at all. Only flames are visible to make me more focused. It looks like flow wasn’t very controlled but great color overall

Flow: Flow seems like it was intended
    Technique: Image is nicely focused.

Art: Beautiful colors, and interesting composition.
Flow: Fire is a fascinating flow, and this is dramatic, though I wish I knew more about the substance burned.
Technique: Nice capture, especially because you’re still learning cameras… I bet video could be gorgeous too!

A good flow with nice coloring however some of the flame flow is a bit unnoticeable due to some lack of focus. Really good lighting though

Lighting is great. So is the expression of the flame. The picture is a little blurry – a faster shutter would help grab the flame in the moment. While the blurry movement is cool I think it would be more satisfying to see the flame frozen.

The flame has a very nice flow, and effective colors!
Even though it is difficult to control these kind of flow, this image shows a very nice “dancing” flame!
    Background is very good!

-Great color contrast between the flame and the background, subject is framed nicely
-Shows unique combustion behavior and is clearly understandable
-Could possibly work on improving the time resolution of the image, but this can be difficult with fleeting phenomena like flames, perhaps adjusting shutter speed could help

Really impressive image, I love the shape of the flame, the contrast between the flame and black background is great. I like you used relative long shutter speed, it shows the motion of the flame. Also the way you crop the image really highlighted the motion of the flame.

The color contrast is awesome, and I like that you kept the background very dark as to not distract from the flame. It seemed like the view was out of focus, but it may just be a setting on the aperture. I think you could play with longer or shorter exposures to get either a cleaner image or more obvious motion blur.

I really like the sharp colors from the flame. A change in focus or shutter speed might have increased detail in the image. The darkness of the background does a good job at highlighting warmth of the colors.

the image is interesting and impactful, the form of the flame could be more accentuated by framing/cropping the image in a more dynamic way. Flow is controlled yet energized and interesting to look at. Photographic technique could improve by keeping the camera more stationary and using a long exposure to capture flame.

The flow follows a turbulent path and the image is effective in showing the fluid dynamics. The image clearly illustrates the phenomena although the resolution is blurred, due to the still capture in time.

That’s a neat deep red and orange fire, like a flamethrower! It reminds me of a flame simulation I was playing with a while back. The motion clearly represents action, but it looks a bit blurry.

  • The flame is a great fit for this size of picture. A sharper image quality would really bring out the impact of the image. Different orientations could also enhance
    the effect it gives off.

Art: Flames are always an excellent way to create unique art, as no two flames look alike.
Flow: The motion is certainly there, but without context it is difficult to understand what is happening.
Art: The image came out blurry in some spots. A faster shutter speed might be more helpful.

    Flow:
Flow is obvious and easy to see.
    Photographic technique:
A faster shutter speed could have benefited your photo.

Artistically the composition is cropped well and fills the frame. The background highlights the flame well. The flow of the flame is clearly shown but the edges of the flow are a bit blurred. Photographically, the focus is good but there is some motion smear, so a higher shutter speed could help.

It is a very captivating image and does a good job catching the eye of the observer. The flame itself seems to be out of focus and somewhat blurry, is this what you intended the image to look like? The contrast between the background and the flame itself is also something that I like about the image.

    – The colors are beautiful and the fire makes this image dramatic.
    – This is a creative flow visualization.
-The photo could benefit from being slightly more in focus.

  • The art is dramatic with lots of bright and vibrant colors. It’s really interesting to look at, you can tell that the flow is chaotic and powerful, the image captures that well. What techniques did you use to capture it? Did you have it on a tripod or did you have a helper take the picture while you created the flame? What was your shutter speed?

Its got really cool shape and color. A nice dark background provides optimal brightness of the flame. However it seems the photo itself is a little blurry, was this intentional or due to the speed at which the flame ignited? Overall I like the picture.

This picture really catches my attention with its very bright red, yellow, and orange colors against the dark background. The phenomena was captured, but it is hard to tell what is going on or what you used to create this flame. There is a good contrast of colors in this picture and it is a satisfying aesthetic.

This image shows the interesting forced flow of the flame by spraying something flammable. There is good contrast between the image and the background. The focus seems to be slightly off, a crisper image would have allowed for us to see the small details of the flow better.

This is a really beautiful image of fire. I really like the lighting and how bright the flames are compared to the black background. It really shows the warmth of the fire.
In the future, I think trying to focus the camera a little better on the subject would be advantageous. This might be hard to do with flames, but it would help the image quality.

This composition has elements of motion, visual weight, and high contrast. The motion of the lighter flame is clearly illustrated due to the blur of the photo towards the right. Due to the presence of the flame in the frame occupying about 1/3 of the composition, a sense of weight can also be detected, lending the feeling that the flame is being ‘crushed’ on both sides by the darkness in the frame. Furthermore, The gradient of warm colors is excellent and feels very natural.

It’s dramatic. It looks like there are some interesting dynamics at play in this flow, like wrinkles and bumps.
    Flow:
What physics phenomena did you want to capture here? I’m not sure what to focus on.

What part of the flame are you focusing on? Could you get a more in-focus picture?

Art: The bright orange and yellow color against the stark black background is striking and powerful. I like the abstract quality. The framing/cropping is good, as the flame is in the center.
Flow: The flow is shown front and center and the small flame peaks and valleys are shown.
Technique: Focus should probably be improved.

The color is pretty bright and the turbulent flow is enhanced by the dark background, because of how fast the flame is moving the image could be focused a little more. I like the contrast though!

The color of the flame is beautiful and exhibits raw power and destruction that flame can have. The image seems to me to be a little out of focus, but the black background clearly enhances the flow of the flame. The flow of the flame shows that the start of the aerosal spray starts on the left with what seems like two sources of fuel. Is there a specific reason why the beginning and end of the flame is more orange and the middle is more yellow?

I love the contrast between the flame and the background. A focusing tip is to place an object where the flame will be, focus in on it, and then capture the flame.

The colors in this image are really awesome and I love how the background is completely black so all you can see is the flame. This image clearly shows how the flames of the fire look. Perhaps a shorter shutter speed could help with blurring of some of the details so the motion of the flames could be captured.
