Art: I think it’s amazing how the food dye appears only in the water layer below. The waves look very mystical and the overall setup is very scientific, as in “here’s how it’s done” but if you wanted to emphasize the mysticality of the waves, cropping would be beneficial. The white balance could change too.

This is a very interesting image. The differing viscosities of the fluids makes for a cool depiction of flow visualization. Adding the food coloring to the water was a good idea to add some contrasting colors to the photo. Good focus and editing of the picture.

  • I find it cool that you can’t see any trace of the dye in the oil, which is above the water. The dye looks really nice and I think that the contrast with the background is good.

This is a really cool photo! The physics of the flow are clearly visible and the image itself has great clarity.

Interesting capture. The dye looks really neat. Lighting and white balance could be improved to really make the image pop.

I think some cropping would do the flow more justice. It might be interesting to look at the interactions between the blue streaks and impinging droplets.

The food coloring in the water bottom of the glass is really neat. I like how the food coloring looks trapped on the vegetable oil. I think it is an excellent representation of the bag instability. The image could use a little more cropping to emphasize the phenomenon.

It’s interesting how all the droplets converged into one place, it’s beautiful how the droplet starts spreading through the water. Great choice with the color . Maybe some more cropping would help capture the essence of this picture more.

Great job capturing how dye settles in this composition. The shapes formed are organic and pleasing to look at!

I love the colors and the shallow depth of field in the background. I would recommend maybe increasing the contrast so that the colors of the background and the glass are more differentiable. Great visualization of a bag instability.

Great timing on getting the droplet at the time that it entered the water. The waves create a very aesthetic background.

I like the color and flow physics in the image. I would like to see the blue waves take up the entire screen personally, so that you cannot see the background or the oil

  • I love the interaction going on in the photo. I think a photo of a close up of just the water section could make for a very interesting scene

The flow is very interesting, and the color contrast helps demonstrate the flow. The image might be improved with some cropping, and the background is a little distracting.

    Art
Nicely done. I like composition—everything is crisp and clean.
    Flow
Nice! You really captured the turbulent mixing. It’s cool that the high-speed streak gets thinner with depth.
    Photographic Technique
I like your choice of depth of field. It really emphasizes the path of the droplet.

I like the blue food coloring and the flow is depicted really well. What was the oil on top for? Maybe if the food dye was moving through the oil then it would be a bit more understandable. I think some cropping could help with the aesthetic of the picture as well.

I really like the image and how there are two different layers of material. It is really unique how the blue flow is all in the bottom and nothing seems to be in the oil up top.

I like the flow of the dye, and the bubble producing it near the top. The important of the photo is very small compared to the whole image, so I think some cropping would help.

The mixture of the dye at the bottom of the glass is a very cool representation of the flow and the blue color looks cool. I think it would look cooler if the background were a brighter white.

I like how the oil on the top layer is relatively untouched, as we see the ink spreading in the solution below. I feel like the piece would be better cropped to better fit the ink into the rule of thirds. Focus seems pretty spot on!

I really like the color contrasts. The use of different densities is really cool. The flow of the food coloring is really satisfying.
I think cropping the image more to focus less on the whole glass would be helpful.

Great demonstration of flow. I like the technique to use two different density fluids interacting with dye. The color choice of blue dye is very vivid with the background choice and draws attention to it.
