Ryan Neff, Team First, February 21 + Team Alpha

Fog machine inside a laser diffraction device. I used iPhoto to post-process this image. I turned up the contrast to eliminate and residual fog that may have been captured in this image and caught by the laser. Additionally, I touched up the image to further eliminate residual fog captured in the original image and also tried to enhance the conical shape of the image. Finally, I cropped the image down to focus on some of the cooler flow phenomena that I saw.

    I like how this photo has more black space than green light illuminating the smoke. I think it makes it more simple and brings your attention to the flow more.

    The color in the image really highlights the flow, I think the low light conditions are a little difficult to capture but the image turned out great.

    Looks similar to a lava lamp. Although it appears 2D, the details on the edges indicate the 3D effect.

    I really like this image. The spiraling fog looks excellent with the laser lighting it up. The focus and color are also great. Very nice image!

    Great image, but the graininess is slightly odd. Howeve,r I kind of like the graininess of the image, it adds to the overall effect.

    Very interesting flow. The green highlight and the hard lines on either side really help draw attention to the many vortexes. The focus is good, but the image seems a little grainy.

    Impressive image, the flow is super clear and sharp, and the flow is beautiful as well. The image is a little noisy may due to the high ISO.

    The resolution of the particles in this image is great! I can see so much detail. The focus of this image is excellent as well and the swirling effects of the fog are beautiful.

    The turbulent plumes make very crisp spirals. I’m drawn to that particular spiral at the center bottom that looks like a y or a g. If you take a picture with lower ISO or if you could get a hold of a more sensitive camera, it would look less grainy.
