This video shows the unique phenomenon that occurs when Guinness Stout is poured into a sloped glass – the nitrogen bubbles fall downwards along the side of the glass. This creates waves of bubbles that you can see make their way towards the bottom, where there is a low bubble density.

Hi Beck, you provided a great explanation of how the shape of the glass impacts this phenomenon during critique. I can’t recall if you mentioned anything about surface friction between the glass and the Guinness, but that’s definitely something that came to my mind on this second time seeing the video.
Opinions: The video on the site might have been compressed a bit, which makes it look less sharp.
Statements of Meaning: You made a really clear and nice statement of meaning, and the flow phenomenon is super interesting, we don’t usually see bubbles going downward. Great example of multiphase flow and circulation currents in action.
Neutral Questions: Do you think there will be a different phenomenon if the glass shape were straight instead of sloped?
