The bursts of flames only last for a fraction of a second, so a video with screen capturing at specific frames is needed to fully see the flame structure. The exhaust flame burns blue because it is a heavily oxygen rich combustion occurring at the exit of the exhaust. The laminar jet exiting the exhaust pipe quickly turns turbulent before dying out quenching in the surrounding atmosphere.
