This image shows a vortex ring created by forcing fluid through a small circular opening in a cup. The ‘smoke’ that can be seen in the photo is CO2 and water vapor that has sublimated into the gas phase from dry ice that had been combined with water. In this specific image, the vortex ring is translating across an LED light placed underneath the vortex generator.

    I really like the perspective that you took the vortex image at, I think it’s very cool to see the flow from the side and inside the vortex.

    The angle of your image shows how the fog wraps around from the center to form the vortex ring which is such a cool perspective.
