This image was taken on October 18th, 7:25am EST at the Baltimore Inner Harbor (39°17’06.6″N 76°36’42.9″W). I was facing directly East and took the photo approximately even with the horizon. The clouds seen here are mainly altocumulus, characterized by the patchy, layered appearance. Behind the altocumulus clouds many contrails can be seen as well. These are caused by the condensation of water vapor from aircraft exhausts, which is consistent with the fact that Baltimore-Washington International Airport is close by. Regarding atmospheric stability, the persistence and spreading of these contrails tells us something interesting; when contrails linger and spread out like this rather than dissipating quickly, it indicates the upper atmosphere is relatively moist and stable.

I love how dreamlike the image appears! The perspective of the shot and the reflection of the clouds on the water make for a gorgeous scene.

Awesome cloud image! I like how the image is perfectly split in half with everything in the top half being reflected on the water. Great editing as well.

I love the reflection and the colors, and the textures on the clouds are really interesting! Well done!

I like the contrails in your image! It’s nice how they are perpendicular to some of the other clouds in the sky. Your image also captured clouds at different elevations! There are some cirrus clouds toward the top of the image, which appear white since the sun “rose” for them earlier than the other clouds.
