Injecting colored ink into a clear water tank showing Rayleigh-Taylor instabilities and micro-currents

Gav and Dan conducted a fluid dynamics experiment by injecting various colored inks into a large, clear glass fish tank filled with water. Filmed at 1,000 frames per second in 4K resolution using a Phantom Flex4K camera rig, the high-speed footage captured the formation of detailed vortex rings and cloud-like structures as the ink slowly diffused.

What I appreciate about this science and art is how the denser ink falls through the less dense water, gravity pulls it down while fluid resistance pushes it up. This creates mushroom and cloud-like structures. This captures the exact transition from laminar flow to chaotic, turbulent flow as the ink breaks apart and mixes.
