What I really like about this photo is that it shows flow phenomena and beauty at the same time. The hot gas from the fire rises, creating a billowing smoke plume because it is less dense than the surrounding cold air due to its higher temperature. This fluid behavior is called Buoyancy-driven flow, which is governed by the fundamental laws of physics. In addition, the smoke’s rise is beautiful because it creates strong contrast with the environment around it, like the dark green trees, blue sky, and the land below, which makes the flow amazingly visible.
