Get Wet – Ryan Neff

This image captures the Boulder Creek flowing over one of the many river rocks.

I did not use any post processing in this image, so this is the original. I have since learned how to use post processing and will use it in my future images.

The photo has a very strong soothing feel, unique in the sense that it’s very natural compared to most of the other images. Awesome focus on the whitewash!

Nice calm picture, I think it could be saturated green to bring out a better aesthetic, but the flow is very nice to look at.

The clarity of the water and the focus of the image are both really nice. I wish the more turbulent section of the flow was more time resolved.

This is nice contrast to the other river photo, much more powerful flow, and a good focus, though I don’t see the face. The impact of the waterfall generates some nice chaotic flows as well.

I like that water passes the rock very smooth. I also like that the end of water flow forms bubbles.

Like how the water covers the ‘face’ like a smooth sheet. Maybe adjust the colors so that it’s more apparent

I really do see the face. Nice flow of water, so clear, and you can easily see the streamlines of the flow.

  • I liked the clarity of the image, and when someone pointed out the face in the image it made it much more interesting. The image is shot well and I think it focuses well on what you were trying to capture

Great way of showing the water flow. Its awesome that there is the essence of a face appearing from under the water.

I like how you can see the flow turn from laminar into turbulent. (And the face underneath is pretty cool too)

I like how this shows many different aspects of water flow. This way that the water goes from stream line flows to crashing is a nice balance.

Maybe considering cropping the picture to have it more focused towards the veil.

Very soothing photo, I was able to see the face almost instantly and I do also agree the water falling over the face also looks like a clear sheet.

I like how smooth the sheet of water is flowing off the rock. It is a good visual of the flow going from laminar to turbulent flows.

Motion of the water is clearly visible, could benefit from altering colors so that different aspects of the image are more visible.

I’m not sure I really see the face in this picture, but the flow looks very smooth and the image has great clarity. You can clearly see the flow physics as it rolls over the rock.

The smooth flow on top in contrast with the very turbulent flow under the rock is sweet. I also like the contrast between the left and right side of the picture.

I think the flow could be better captured. Maybe finding more contrast in the surface of the water so the flow of the falling water is more visible.

The brightness is a bit much. Bringing out the ripples more without over-doing the exposure might help.

The water in this picture is so clear and smooth. The lighting was done perfectly to avoid any glare on the water. Since the face in the rock is the focus of the picture, did you consider cropping to make that the main focus of the picture? Overall, really cool picture.

Nice laminar flow, great fluid physics. Possilby do some post processing to change the contrast, maybe bring out a secondary light to brighten certain areas.

Art: The face is definitely able to be seen in this image, and the flow really does look like a veil. This is extremely creative and true y a great image. Well done.
Flow: The flow, laminar, is shown in a really nice way

I love the flow in nature. The close up approach of the water and the stream is really beautiful. I like the contrast of the smooth water in the foreground with the white water in the background.
Maybe mess with the colors to see what happens and how the flow looks with inverted colors.

Interesting image, I can see where the face in the rock is and how the flow of the river appears to create a veil over that face. I like that you included the foaming at the bottom of the rapid in order to illustrate the bubbling caused by high velocity fluid collision.

I don’t see the face, but I do like the movement of the water over the rock. It almost looks like a bubble encasing the rock. I think upping the contrast in the photo would help bring out the flow in the water.
