The image shows an example of Bernoulli’s Principle. Hair dryer creates the air flow, which causes the ping-pong ball float in the air. Moreover, the ping-pong ball can stay within the domain and won’t jump to outside.

Art: Very symmetrical and dramatic, although it feels like it is a bit dull, maybe additional editing might be worthwhile.
Flow: Clearly illustrates buoyancy of air supporting the mass of a golf ball, although it’s not clear that a blow dryer is the source.
Photographic technique: Lots of grey space so you could crop out some of the image, but shadow details the golf ball nicely.

I really like this image. I like how the back wall fades from white to black. I think this is a very intresting flow and i like how you made it just the ball. I think it would be cool if there was some sort of smoke it order to see how the air moves around the ball,

This is a cool picture. It’s a little tricky to see the flow, but it’s something that we’re all familiar with so the description paints a clear enough picture in our heads. The greyscale and wide framing are also good effects. They make the picture seem vaguely ominous, in a good way.

I think the greyscale color modification you did adds a dramatic feel to your image, by giving more emotional weight to the shadow on the ball. The texture in the background also does a good job of isolating the ball by itself. Both the logo on the ball and the logo on the hair dryer were left in the image – was this intentional? I think it adds more visual detail without being distracting. I wish I was able to see the flow of air itself to more clearly explain how this Coanda effect functions, but I understand it may take a complicated setup to visualize.

I like the depressed feel to the image and the fact that the ping pong ball is just floating up in the air. The only the that kind of ticked me was the angle of the hair dryer.

The minimalistic elements of this photograph give it a unique mood. The black and white colors accurately portray the simpleness of the photo

I like this picture a lot. It’s a bit dark, but I think it adds to the picture. It makes me think of the moon being suspended in outer space.

Great demonstration of the physics. You also took a great shadow of the ping pong ball. The grey background makes it hard to visualize the ping pong ball.

I honestly couldn’t tell this was a ping pong ball until you explained it. I thought it was a really round water drop. Maybe a little more of the hair dryer in the bottom to give more context. I do really like the colors being muted. Maybe increase the contrast a little to bring out the shadow on the ball more.

It’s a well-framing image. No distracting element in this image. Perhaps some smog can be applied to show the track of the flow

The image is Interesting in its simplicity. it look like a lonely planet far from the sun or with a dyeing sun. Have you thought of editing out the black mark on the ball?

I really like the black and white feel to this photo. Even though there isn’t much flow seen, this is a very unique photo

I like the simplicity and black and white color scheme of this picture. It is difficult to visualize the flow but the light to dark gradients make it visually appealing.

Great image and I think you captured the solitude that you were going for quite well. You might use some props to disguise the hair dryer as some “levitating” element to give it an even more surreal effect.

The color scheme is very beautiful in a way. I like the idea behind it. But I think it would be very nice to add something to see the flow better. It is cool that the ball is just floating though, and I also like how in focus everything is.

Great idea. The picture clearly shows the physics behind the idea. I think the dryer is relevant to the picture and maybe if you include more than the tip of it, the physics will be easier to understand. Great work on taking the picture.

I really like the simplicity and the symmetry of imagery! Have you thought about making the image a bit brighter?

This is a striking image. I like the simplicity of it as well as the even lighting. Making the gas visible would add a lot to the physics of the image, as the ball could be dropped to the same position. The clarity of this image is very nice as well.

This is a really interesting picture! Took me a minute to figure that this was a ping pong ball. I like how dark the image is. Maybe experience with adding strips of tissues to the edge of the blower to show the flow of air upwards since we can’t see the air moving.

I personally really like the darker background for this image. I am curious what it would have turned out like if the ping-pong ball would have been colored very brilliant white in contrast to the background. I would also suggest cropping this into a portrait image to bring focus to the ball.

like the darkness of the photo it really invokes emotion with the single ball in the center of the image. Did you try cropping the hair dryer out? What about a more solid background?

  • I love this image! I think the grey-scale of this is a good idea, and really highlights the idea. I might suggest playing with the contrast to get a little more of the highlights/shadows to pop in the image. Like we mentioned in class, you could try cropping the image a little bit to focus more on the image.

  • I like how the entire image has a very similar grey color and it looks like it is just floating, It is also obvious that the photo was specifically chosen to not show the logo. It could be cropped a bit, but I like the small ball in mid air.

With a smoke or fog setup, this would be really cool. Definitely leading up to something cool! For now, it could use a little more color, or something to make the pingpong ball stand out

A nice simple picture, not much going on but thats not a bad thing. The background and the ball could stick out a little bit more. Like the dark gray color.

Great idea for a project and I like the lighting contrast in the photo. It helps give it some depth. Although, you can’t actually see any flow. Maybe if you had added smake in with the hair dryer so that you could see the air moving around the ball it would look really good. Awesome idea and its inspiring more ideas for myself.
