I really appreciate the way that this image shows the aerodynamic ways that cars affect air flow. You can especially see how the first car changes the air flow for the second, the second for the third, etc. The result is a beautiful piece of art that demonstrates basic concepts of fluid dynamics. The aerodynamics of the car cause the air to be forced upward, which would effectively push the car downward. Also, you can see how being behind the 1st car reduces the velocity of the air coming towards the second car. I really like how the author uses high contrast colors to make the air flow extremely clear to the average person.

Third prize! I’ve heard that one advantage to self-driving vehicles would be the fuel saved, because vehicles could safely drive immediately behind one another’s slipstream. I’d never seen it visualized so eloquently before, though.

Third Prize. It’s interesting how air flow changes. That’s the beauty of aerodynamic

Second Prize. I love car aerodynamics!
