Photographer Lloyd Meudell captures breathtaking images of ocean waves off his home shores of New South Wales. The waveforms and lighting combine to create infinite variety in shape and texture. Some waves look like towering mountain landscapes; some look like glass sculptures. Every one of them draws you into the ocean’s power. (Image credit: L. Meudell; via Bored Panda)

1st place: This image looks so still even though I have to force myself to realize it is a wave in motion, I think this image is very satisfying

1st place: this photo is super cool because typically you process waves as turbulent, constantly moving phenomena, but the extremely short shutter time offers a view of a single instant, removing motion from the perception.

Third Prize: I always appreciate interesting flows captured in natural phenomena like waves, and this is an exceptional wave photo. There’s something satisfying about the shape of this completely laminar flow frozen in time.

Second place: I’ve never seen a wave look like this, it almost looks like a glacier.

1st, the composition is beautiful and I like wave on the precipice of becoming turbulent.

Third Place: I really enjoyed this image because you can almost see the weight of the wave and the potential energy it has before it crashes. The reflection of the sunset also made for amazing lighting.
