This is an Alka-Seltzer lava lamp. There is a layer of oil and water that are separated, with a few drops of green food coloring in between. The reaction occurs when an Alka-Seltzer tablet is dropped into the water. The reaction causes the food coloring bubbles pop, coloring the glass. Finally the music is called Tuesday, created by amaksi sourced from Pixabay.

I like the colors, background works with oil color and green adds nice coordinated pop

Amazing that the food coloring bubbles didn’t burst immediately, makes for an awesome video well done!

The at-first unpopped bubbles of food coloring make for a super interesting dynamic between the frothing green liquid and almost shadowy undefined dark forms rushing around within it.

I loved this idea! it’s similar to what I did but more chaotic and interesting I think. The visuals of the individual bubbles popping reminded me of CGI movie effects, great work.

  • I do agree that choosing green food coloring over red or blue is a better option.

This is sweet. I appreciate how you edited this. Is it sped up at all?

Really nice framing of the reaction, the subject was very clearly focused and captured. I felt like your selection of dye was good as well, as you could clearly see the boundary between each fluid.

I thought the idea of the alka-seltzer causing the food coloring bubbles to pop was very cool. Watching the entire reaction was very interesting.
