Clouds First // William Watkins

This photo was taken on Table Mesa Drive in Boulder, Colorado in front of the King Soopers grocery store on October 1st at 6:33 PM. Based on the Skew-T Diagram shown above where the Temperature and Dew Point are become close together (at an altitude of approximately 3500 m) in addition to referencing the image shown above, I can infer that the clouds in the image are Altocumulus. In addition to this, the CAPE value of 609.6 indicates that the atmosphere was not stable. Also, the slopes of the adiabatic temperature lines and isotherms indicate an unstable atmosphere as well.

I love the colors of this photo and how the mountains silhouette the sky and clouds. Keep it up!

The colors are incredible in this image- I especially like how some of the clouds are still being lit up orange from the sun, while others have turned grey.

I really like the framing of this image! You have a good rule of thirds going on with the mountains in the bottom and the sky taking up the main focus of the image. The blue/ yellow color palette is quite aesthetic as well!

The color contrast with the sun and the flatirons is stunning. I also really like the different textures from your clouds that you’re able to get, specifically the fluffiness of the clouds in the foreground and the sharpness of the clouds more in the background.

The golden sun color is fantastic when accented against the blue sky. The iconic silhouette of Boulder’s skyline is a perfect framing at the bottom of the image.

I like the flatirons in the foreground. It adds some interesting framing for the sky and cuts a crisp line all the way across the image.

I like how wide this image is, it gives it a really grand scale along with the bold glowing yellow against the blue sky.

The vibrant blue of the sky is a good canvas for the yellows from the sun. The view over the Flatirons is a good choice too. It adds an interesting foreground
