Best of Web Fall 2023

This short film is titled “Discovery” and was made by Rus Khasanov. The effects seen can be described by changes in surface tension and can also be referred to as the Marangoni effect. A fluid with a lower surface tension will be “pulled” by a fluid with a higher surface tension.

Theres something really special about flow visualized in a video. This is very similar to something that I would really love to and be able to do towards the middle/end of the year in this class.

The use of different textures within the fluids made these visuals stunning. This was also a phenomenon that I did not know much about.

Second Prize: Seeing this video made me recall the famous bubble wallpaper that Apple created a few years ago. The Marangoni effect is also fascinating. Although the principles are different, they both have a colorful and elegant flow. I love the scientific principle or phenomenon that embodies the art of colorfulness.

Third Prize: This video was captivating by not only the artistic features but also the science. It was nice to truly visualize the movement of fluids instead of a still image. The colors were pleasing to the eyes. I wonder what mechanisms were conducted in order to display the movement of the fluid across the frame.
