Riley Menke – Water Drop Recoil

This picture was taken with a high speed camera fitted with a macro lens. The subject is the separating lift-off of water following a large droplet impacting the surface. The water was dyed slightly blue for visual appeal. Taken with help from Rachel Marbaker and Tandralee Chetia.

This image is super cool with the pastel colors. It looks like a cgi fluid simulation in some ethereal plane. I think the focus could be better, but I wonder if that’s a matter of intense cropping?

    Hello Riley,
I think this image is super cool because it almost looks like the water is dripping upwards. I also really enjoy the blue color you were able to get with the liquid.

This is amazing! I can’t stop thinking about how beautiful it would be to have this hanging on my wall.

    Hi Riley!

I really like this image! I especially like how much you brought out the blue in the liquid; it contrasts really nicely with the pinkish background!
