Espresso

Team Second – Patrick Watson

For my Team Second assignment, I decided to video one of my favorite obsessions! Espresso! Using my Nikon D7500 I was able to record a 4k 30fps video of the extraction of my espresso shot. This took a lot of effort to capture the detail and taking a macro video. Lighting is critical for capturing the details and I can say that I drank a lot of espresso to try and get this as best as I can.

Cool progression of flow in the video, I like how well you got the texture and the streamlines.

This is cool how clearly you were able to depict and demonstrate a daily occurrence of coffee making for this assignment! I thought the clarity of the video was excellent! The bright white in the lower right hand might be a little distracting; is there a way to dim the brightness in that section of the video alone? Well done!

    Hi Patrick
First of all, I’d like to commend you on your idea to capture an espresso shot extraction for this assignment.
These types of day-to-day events are easily overlooked, yet are beautiful when one takes the time to appreciate them, as can be seen from the amazing color and flow lines visible in your featured image.
I wish we could get a more closeup shot of the espresso shot dripping out.
    Great work!
And I’d be happy to help with the lighting for the macro shots, I’ve been trying it since the Get Wet 1, and am kind of getting a hang of it.
