This photo was taken driving down from the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) Mesa Lab at about 5800 feet above sea level. I was facing southeast, just out of view of the Flatirons on August 27 at 4:07pm MT. As indicated by the Skew-T diagram, the atmosphere was slightly unstable. CAPE also shows that the atmosphere is weakly unstable. The hour before this photo, heavy rains and slight thunder were observed. Clouds were seen from the tips of the Flatirons at 7000 feet to 19000 feet (5880 meters), as supported by the figure.

What is seen in this photo are conjoined cumulus congestus clouds and one human-shaped cumulus humilis cloud.
