This image was taken on October 8th, 2025 at 5:39pm PST at the Pape Material Handling office building in Tigard, Oregon (45.422119°N, 122.748816°W) while facing West. The clouds featured in this photo are very likely stratus clouds (very typical in the classic overcast Oregon weather). Based on the Skew-T diagram, there may also be a separate layer of altostratus clouds above the stratus clouds. The atmosphere is very stable, as the parcel path never crosses to the right of the temperature line (no LFC, so no CAPE value).

I really like the silhouette on this image of the treeline. I also like how you brought down the exposure to make the sky a bit more dramatic. It’s interesting how you can’t see the sun directly, but you can almost tell the depth of the clouds based on the darkness of the cloud.
I really enjoyed how you lowered the brightness of the lower left hand spot, I think it aided the overall theme of your photo. Having more detail with the sun poking through the clouds enhances the quality of your image, great job!
I like the cropping choice to keep the tree silhouette and how you adjusted the exposure/contrast in post-processing.
