Third place – Amazing color balancing and such a difficult shot to capture that conveys so much information about the study of fluid flow.
Second Prize
The high saturation really made this image pop and catch my attention. Seeing that it was made with a schlieren technique was surprising, since I had not considered that a large scale in-motion use of it was possible.
First Prize – I have seen many pictures of shock waves, but the way the waves contrast the background here is very unique.
First Prize: This photo is such a fascinating mix of shock interaction, large objects (T-38 jets) made to look really small in perspective, along with bright and vivid colors. This one captures the interest of both the creative part and engineering part of my mind

This picture first of all is just awesome and so cool to look at. I love how they showed the schlieren with such a bright color and high contrast.
