This image shows high visibility paint applied to a Red Bull Formula 1 car during 2025 testing in Bahrain. The paint is applied to the cars in areas where engineers want to learn more about how the air flows around components, then the cars are driven at race speed during testing. By inspecting how the paint is spread along the bodywork, engineers can determine how the aerodynamics actually behave in race-like conditions.

Third Prize – Automotive aerodynamics are a huge interest of mine, and it is cool to see more rudimentary tactics still being used in modern racing and providing useful info to the engineers.
