In certain regions, the specific zonal jets that produce Jupiter’s distinct banded patterns begin to break down, thus producing turbulent and chaotic patterns and structures that evolve rapidly. I believe this was a good example of flow visualization, as the turbulent currents are clear and well contrasted to the backdrop of space. The variation in color between the numerous involved flows also creates a contrast between them.
