This photo was taken in Boulder on September 5th at 6:14 pm. These look like stratocumulus clouds because they are clumpy but spread out in a layer. They don’t seem to grow much upward, suggesting stable air above them. However, the Grand Junction sounding (closest station to Boulder) may not match the conditions in Boulder.
