Cumulus Congestus, Semi-Stable (Clouds First – Anton Ignatenko)

This photo is of a cumulus congestus behind the towering silhouette of Long’s Peak. It was taken on 9 October 2026 at 18:28 in Superior, CO.

The relevant Skew-T diagram is seen below, taken from UCAR Wyoming’s evening measurement in Grand Junction from the same date. According to the diagram, pictured is a semi-stable atmosphere resulting in the cumulus clouds mixed with the visible virga trails from precipitation.

The original image is seen below. It was captured with a Pentax K-r wielding a Pentax 55-300 lens.
